Staying Neutral

I recently purged a lot of my closet onto the Poshmark app, anyone on there? It’s great because what I was left with are all my basic pieces that may seem rather “blah” to a lot of people, but are essential in my book. Yes, neutrals tend to get a bad wrap simply for being “boring” or “safe.” Well hrmph. I love my dress shirts and my denim staples dammit. And my oversized cozy sweaters with my little booties, yes those are being kept forever.

The professional me always tells clients that neutrals are the building blocks to any strong wardrobe, the staples that aren’t going anywhere. Taking my own advice, I got rid of the trendy overplayed stuff i.e designer pun t’s, holographic bags..etc. Don’t judge me. Anyhoo, the foundation to an easy, yet spot on wardrobe consists of black, white, grey, nude, navy, khaki: all easy colors to mix and match with each other. You can’t build a strong look without nailing down the basics first, right?

This is just my personal take on playing with neutrals, wearing my favorites priced high to low for an easy yet far from dull look anyone can wear :)

A few good button down shirts are a staple in any closet. Joie makes the best ones, they're incredibly soft. I wear them all the time.

Don't mind my stare, I'm watching for cars so my photographer doesn't get hit. Safety first my friends.

Distressed denim. These ones are by JBrand, and if you know me by now they are the only denim I wear and for good reason. No one makes em like JBrand.

See? Easy to wear and comfortable. Comfort is key in my book.

Another staple: A textured midsize bag. It's a good way to punch up a basic outfit. This one is from BCBG, however I tucked the strap in for a look I much prefer :)

50 shades of grey over here. I love grey, I prefer it over black most days. These textured shoes are from....wait for it....Steve Madden. I know..I know...
