Thursday is for Thistle

Rise and grind everybody  :D I’m switching things up today to feature my new favorite meal delivery service, Thistle Co. But before I go further, I should let you know that for someone who grew up watching my Mom cook every meal from scratch for our family, I love that cooking was (and still is) a very big part of our daily life. But in an age where it’s harder to slow down, especially for those who are self employed…there’s hardly ever time or energy to cook a beef stew during the week or make muffins for the next morning. Which is why, on the days that become just too busy, it’s nice to have a service that will come to your door and feed you something healthy, fresh, without breaking your budget.

Thistle is the only service out there that leads with health and nutrition front and center. I’ve received 2 deliveries so far and I like that the portions are very fair, everything is fresh, there’s variety in each delivery, and best of all…they’re delicious. Plus, I’m hooked on their raw juice and snacks. Right up my alley.

@Twelfthknight has been going low carb, and I think Thistle will help propel his health goals. Delicious and nutritious, he says :D And my Mom has recently said that since going into the office every day, there’s very limited options for lunch that she will in fact eat. So I think she’ll eat cleaner and colorfully when she tries what’s currently in the fridge, thanks Thistle!

Thistle is a Bay Area based company and will deliver to SF, Marin, and the East Bay. If you would like to try yourself, you can use my code to save 20% off “SHOESSASHIMI

As always, thank you for reading. I will be in Denver on Monday-Thursday, but I hope to post while I’m there. And of course, you can find me daily on Instagram for up to date photo adventures.

LA Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday all. As most of you know Los Angeles is my favorite city. I’ve lived, worked, and played here for many years, so it’s always nice to come back down for a little bit now that I’ve been in the Bay Area a while. Do I miss it? Hell yeah. I miss the daily grind of the city, the little magic if you will. We treated this trip as a staycation. It was nice to swoop in with @Twelfthknight and the fur baby for a few days to eat, relax, take in some art, and just be. No agenda, no work, just living that LA life as only we know how :D

As always, thank you for reading. And a big thank you to Sole of Brasil for adding some boho style to my look. If you’d like to shop Sole of Brasil’s online store for comfy Brazilian shoes, be sure to use “Lauren15” for 15% off at checkout.

Cut it Out

Good morning everyone, I’ve been in LA for a little bit and have now gotten back to posting. Can I just say how nice it is when everyone leaves to Coachella and those in LA have no traffic for 3 days? It’s great  :D  Anyhoo, I digress. With the weather heating up now, I’m sharing these brilliant laser cut out heels by Loucos Santos, thanks to online retailer Sole of Brasil. Sole of Brasil is home to established Brazilian shoe designers at affordable prices, based in the south bay of LA. It’s a one stop shop.

I shot this before I left for LA, but with the weather as it is, I think they’d be paired nicely with a denim skirt or a maxi dress. I think it’s time I start trading in my jeans for skirts, my sneakers for sandals, and Sole of Brasil can help me do just the thing.

If you’d like to purchase your own comfy pairs, you can use code “Lauren15” for 15% off.

Thanks for reading everyone, til next week!

Life is Fast, Fashion Shouldn’t Be

Hi all, hope you’re having a good week thus far and in all seriousness, I’d like to thank you for reading all my posts as of late. I took a little hiatus earlier in the year, but that’s because I was trying to create a plan of where I wanted this blog and content to go. Now I have it and I’m locked and loaded, so I can’t wait to share everything that’s coming with you soon.

Today, I’d like to share something I care strongly about. And that is quality vs.quantity. I apply this to all aspects of life, but this article (among many others that have come out recently) specifically puts a spotlight on “fast fashion” and why it is so important to be a consumer that chooses consciously. There are countless throwaway “fashion companies” that are made less than poorly overseas, made in massive quantities, and then dissgarded shortly after it’s one-wear use that the planet literally cannot hold such things anymore. And I think it’s a damn shame.

Call me elitist, but as an example, you will never see me promote or purchase something from Forever21. From ethics as a corporation, to poor product, and so on… I just can’t support it. I would very much rather pay more for something of quality that will stand the test of time. Which brings me to the brands that I love and will wear over and over again, like the ones I’m wearing here.

At the bottom of this post are the list of brands with the links to each site. I especially love Amour Vert, for they are ethical, eco-friendly, and get this: For every purchase they plant a tree! If you read my blog long enough or follow me on Instagram, you will see just how many times these pieces have been popping up, so they definitely are getting lots of wear :D

Have a great rest of your week, and thanks again for visiting! I especially would like to hear your thoughts on the article if you choose to read it.

Basic is Beautiful

For all my basic b’s out there, this one’s for you. I think basic is beautiful and I’m wearing it loud and proud lately.  Jules from Basic B tees created an eco-friendly and sustainable brand which I’m very happy to support. It’s always hard to find a brand, let alone casual wardrobe basics that I love and wear often. And they go with everything, from the Barre to casual errand running.

I think this set from my photographer friend Lisha says it all. Basic is Beautiful.
