Toting Today: Malibu American

Happy Memorial Day everyone! In the spirit of all things American made, I’d like to introduce to you, Jackie Prophit of Malibu American. After coming across Jackie’s bags on Instagram, I kept coming back to her feed and noting her beautiful bag designs, craftsmanship, and attention to tones and contrast. I was smitten. By the third click coming back, I reached out and now here I am toting her best seller, The Topanga in Bubble.

This bag is amazing, it holds literally everything I need to get by each day. An extra pair of shoes, my macbook, 2 chargers, a phone, a small wallet…a light packaged lunch. You name it. My whole life in one luxe bag, basically. And blush tones, my favorite :D

As you know, I love to support and promote small brands. Jackie is a self taught and self made designer, a one woman production team. What’s more fantastic is that Malibu American is made in California, something very important to note. My years in LA have garnered me a love for laid back luxe designs and now I can carry it on my shoulder up here in the Bay Area.

Be sure to give Malibu American a follow on Instagram to see all of Jackie’s beautiful bags and colors. And thank you to Rachel Radcliffe for yet another beautiful set of photos.

Cheat Day (A food and fashion roundup)

If you follow me on Instagram, you’d see the influx of food posts as of late. @Twelfthknight and I are very much centered around eating together. Nothing crazy or pretentious, just good food. Whether it is noshing locally, eating our way through a new city (we loved eating thought Denver), or cooking at home, we love our eats. I should note that we will never be seen waiting for 2 hours + for overly priced and over hyped restaurants that is common here in SF…no sir, we have things to do.

Enjoy my month’s round up of a few of our favorite food posts as well as my new “Cheat Day” pullover that I find appropriate to wear on repeat…because let’s face it. Cheat day is technically every day.

We made it in time for Taco Tuesday, their fish tacos and pale ciders are absolutely  delicious. Stuff that reminds me of SoCal and SD.

On an off day, we went to the new SF Moma. 7 floors of art and we were hungry so on our way home we ate at the New England Lobster Market in Burlingame. Not pictured are the oysters!

My favorite, Santouka Ramen located inside the Mitsuwa center. In Los Angeles, anytime I was on Sawtelle Blvd, I’d sit here and order a combo all under $12 and would satisfy any sort food craving. This was taken at the Santouka in San Jose.

For our friend’s birthday, we came to Pacifica for seafood. Their favorite restaurant on the Penninsula side of the Bay, and I’d have to agree with them. Moonraker has the best view whilst eating some of the freshest seafood around!

90’s #ootd, Remixed

The 90’s…Kind of a weird time for a whole lotta grunge fashion, Californiacation, and spawning odd pop culture trends. These were the years of Jansport backpacks, bucket hats, slap bracelets, flannels. Hell, Tupac was even alive. 1990 was the year my brother was born, so I was now 3. Moving on to elementary school, little Lauren would rock a side pony, wear her little neon windbreaker to the playground (often paired with neon bike shorts), and tediously make lanyards at snack time all whilst keeping her Jonathan Taylor Thomas notebook in pristine condition. If you’d like to teleport back to all the great things this era had to offer, take a trip with this article here.

90’s fashion has made a big comeback in today’s world. And I’m talking fiscally. What, with brands like Nasty Gal, Urban, Unif, Missguided, just to name a few, who have all taken the flannel and highwaisted jeans, patches, and neon and made it contemporary and somewhat polished is big big business. I’m liking the 90’s trend more and more now that I’m an adult, so as you can see in this set….here is my simple outfit and nod to the decade I remember most, remixed for today’s modern girl.

Dirt off Your Shoulder

Another beautiful set from Denver. Crystal clean air and a panoramic view to catch the sunset. No worries, no problems. And any negative juju or stress could be lost on this mountain. Jay Z said it best…Get, that, dirt off your shoulder.

Sundown in Denver

I met Emilyanne the first full day in Denver and I’m terribly grateful I got to shoot with her. Emily shoots not only the beautiful bloggers of Denver, but also is a wedding and portrait photographer serving cities nationwide. We shot 3 looks in 45minutes just in time to see the sun go down. As you can see, there’s still a little bit of snow. I also saw many wild rabbits hopping through the valley :D

Thank you Emily for showing me a little bit of Colorado, a scenic view I would’ve never found on my own!

3 Days in Denver

Hi all, hope you’ve had a great week. If you’ve been keeping up with me on Instagram, you’d know that I was in Denver for a few days. @Twelfthknight had to travel for work, so I was fortunate enough to tag along and make this a workation for myself. We’ve never been to Denver before, so this was a nice change of scenery. With @Twelfthknight at work all day, I was left to my own devices. I did a lot…and this is just a roundup. I even had a shoot with native photographer Emily Anne the first day (she shoots the local bloggers of Denver, such as @PolishedAvenue and @Myboringcloset) so naturally I wanted to work with her.  I’m so happy we did, those photos will be for another post :D

Enjoy my quick photo diary, I’d love to go back just for the sunsets and food scene alone. Much more to come. Have a great weekend everyone!

The best meal and service bar none is at Fruition…Rockefeller oysters wrapped in a thin potato layer & sweet pea sauce was our favorite app. @Twelfthknight had the Duck confit and pork belly. I had scallops with panchetta and parsnip puree. This is a must visit.

We had a rental car, so I drove our little Chevy Cruze and hour south to Colorado Springs and saw the Garden of the Gods. I felt like Short Round galavanting through the rock formations.

Always look up. The sky is really that beautiful at sunset. And these rocks will make you feel very tiny. I had a nice time adventuring alone, it’s nice to be your own tour guide.

Heard so many good things about Aspen Juice from Instagram. So I went in, had a tasting, and left with a delicious light juice that revived me from the adventure the previous day.

Walked in to the Cherry Creek Restoration Hardware. This is the mecca of all things design. 4 floors worth of aesthetic overload :D
