A weekend Guide to Santa Rosa

This past weekend @twelfthknight and I escaped to Sonoma County’s town of Santa Rosa for a little reprieve. He’s currently studying for level 2 of the CFA and we haven’t had much time together lately, so it was nice to enjoy a moment of sun and study time by the pool at The Sandman Hotel.

If you’re looking to get away to wine country, but prefer something more quiet and non touristy, head to Santa Rosa for great food, friendly people, and beautiful scenery. I should also mention that The Sandman Hotel is currently holding their Summer Nights Events each Friday, which is open to the public and features one Food Truck and band at the hotel’s pool.

This past Friday, we got to try The Fig Rig, which kicked off The Sandman’s Summer Nights Event. For those who are familiar, Girl and The Fig is one of Sonoma’s critically acclaimed restaurants and we haven’t eaten there yet, so we were very excited to try their Food Truck menu, which was absolutely fantastic. I definitely recommend the Double Trouble Ramen, Dirty Fries, and Mochi Cake.

The second day was a designated pool day. I reached out to a local Santa Rosa blogger, you may already be following her, Amber from AmusedBlog. She came to spend the morning with me while @twelfthknight studied. We sipped frosé at the Sandman’s Pool Bar, splashed around with Stanley the Unicorn floaty, layed out, and had a great time shooting and getting to know each other. She knows everything about Sonoma wine country, so if you’re planning a trip, make sure to ask her for recommendations when it comes to the local scene.

I’m trying to milk this tan for as long as I possibly can until I get back to LA in early June. Do you have any weekend getaways lined up? If so, I’d highly recommend visiting Santa Rosa wine country and trying the wonderful food scene!

This sounds like the perfect little weekend getaway :) Thanks for all of the great food recommendations as always! Can’t wait to plan a little trip too! <3 And sending positive vibes to @twelfthknight! My BF is currently studying for his CPA exams, so I know how stressful these tests can be!

    XO, Elizabeth
