Don’t Sweat It

Don’t sweat the small stuff, I never do. Having always favored being comfy over everything, you’ll probably see me wearing these Tobi sweats for a long long time. If you’re looking for an alternative to skin tight yoga gear, I’d highly recommend the jogger pant.

This style isn’t for everyone as most people think it may seem bulky, but I think it’s super cool and a bit reminiscent of the Spice Girl days. If you have slight hesitation, here are a few tips below to keep in mind when picking out a pair of joggers for yourself. Thanks for reading!

  • Look for a tapered pant, it should be a skinnier leg to create a streamline silhouette

IMG_2050

  • Look for a high waist to cinch the waistline and create a smaller frame

IMG_2052_24A9005

  • Pick a sneaker that is elevated. It’ll create a longer line from the pant hem to the ground.

These Tobi pants were not hemmed or altered, but if you want that perfect fit I’d make sure you know your inseam beforehand.

P.S. For all my East Bay readers, Snow White Coffee is my favorite gem at the tail end of Piedmont Ave. Pop on in next time you want a really good cuppa :D

Fall is for Flares

Fall is and will always be my favorite season no matter where I am. SF is sweater weather year round, and in LA a good jacket with shorts or a skirt used to be my favorite daily ensemble.

Being in the Bay Area, pants and denim are a safer choice, but these stretchy flares from Norma Kamali (Revolve.com) had me thinking I should have a little more fun this Fall. What do you think?

And of course, I can’t leave the house without my favorite jacket that I’ve been wearing non stop. This military jacket from LA brand Velvet Heart is just light enough, and has incredible embroidering details on the sleeves. You’ll be seeing this jacket often.

What are you most looking forward to Fall? *Please don’t say pumpkin spice latte…

P.S If you find yourself in the Marina District of San Francisco, make a stop at Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters. Their coffee, thankfully is not acidic and their wallpaper is just the cutest :D

Fit to be Tied: Velvet Heart

Serious question. Where did Summer go? Even with a little change in the air here in the Bay Area, you’ll still see me in cut offs for as long as I can get away with em. I decided to tie up Summer’s loose ends (while I work on some Fall content) with my favorite button up shirt that has been on rotation the past few weeks. This LA brand won me over instantly, and I think you’ll love Velvet Heart‘s staples too.

There’s plenty of ways to wear a button down, but here are 2 variations.

Look 1: Tie it up with a high waist

Look 2: Wear it under overalls. It’s Fall, after all.

What personal spin do you put on a basic dress shirt? Let me know in the comments.

Ruffle Season // Three Dots

They say truffle season is the best season. I don’t disagree. However, ruffles are a very close second best.

I wouldn’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers, unless it’s in the form of ruffle tops like the one I’m wearing from Three Dots. This is a brand that I’ve fallen for, and I have already worn this lil guy on three separate occasions. The Three Dot’s collection pieces this Spring are incredibly easy to wear, I love their soft jersey tees and tanks. This asymmetrical top has been my favorite though and the movement you get with the ruffles are just plain fun.

You know me by now, I always dress down. But anytime I want a bit of oomph into what would be a simple outfit, you best believe I count on Three Dots to elevate all the basics. Always.

NYFW Day 3

What a whirlwind Day 3 was. 2 shows, a presentation, shooting last looks, and the flight home. I woke up early to check out of The Hudson only to move down the street to The Giraffe Hotel to meet Julia. By 10am we were in our Uber, headed to Industria Studios to see the Christopher Esber presentation. I loved this collection, it was sort of an avant garde take on the parallels of machines and the strength of a woman. I thought it was beautiful in a very tough way.

By noon, Julia and I were headed to Pier 59 Studios for the Katty Xiaomara show. I changed into another look right before hand. This was taken right outside, and I really do think that Pier 59 is my favorite venue.

img_0972img_0976

The Katty Xiaomara show was amazing. I sat closest to the front of house while Julia shot in the media pit. Below are some of my favorite looks.

img_2314img_2315img_2316

After exiting the Katty show, Julia and I made it over to the Memere Presentation in the same studio across the way. I was so happy we saw this collection, it’s incredibly romantic and inspiring for Spring. The icing were the fresh white roses scattered along the floor, it was the perfect way to end our NYFW experience.

img_2312img_2308img_2327

Briefly after the Memere Collection, I swapped my outfit for Lioness pants and coach gloves so we could get a few shots in my favorite venue before I left for the airport. Pier 59 Studios are my favorite, mainly because it is in fact a hub for production. You have all the different stages, all the behind the scenes going on, and I loved being in the throws of it all. Julia, thank you for capturing my final moments here :) Couldn’t have done it without you.

And there you have it. That is a wrap on NYFW Fall 2017. Mark my words, I am planning on going back in September. I haven’t been that excited, inspired, or exhausted like this in what seems like forever and I’m really happy that I made the trip happen. I’ll be doing some more posts on my travel tips and what I brought a long with me in more detail, so look out for those soon.

This week, @twelfthknight and I will be in Vegas for a wedding and I’m lucky enough to shoot while out there. So much is happening this month so I can’t wait to share with you. Thank you so much for reading and keeping up with me.

Knit Weather

It’s finally feeling like actual Fall in the Bay Area and if you’re like me, the chunkier the knit, the better. This one is an old knit from Glamorous (you can find this brand at Bloomingdales.) Fall is my favorite time of the year. I’m looking forward to a quick trip to LA next week for @Twelfthknight’s family Thanksgiving and then right back up for my family’s meal. It’s going to be a whirlwind holiday season this year full of Pop Up shops that I’ll be hosting for Rothy’s Shoes and all the various blogger events, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Stay tuned :)

Brand Spotlight: Clayton

Hi everyone. Not sure about you, but I’m so looking forward to cooler weather. For me, that means more sweaters, and light layers, but I want to have fun with them at the same time. Bodysuits are a way of doing that, which brings me to my favorite brand currently: Clayton.

Clayton’s affordable and easy to wear line are currently sold through my two favorite sites Revolve and Shopbop. I genuinely have been a fan of their jersey knits for a little while now, they’re the quintessential LA girl brand. So when they came out with all these bodysuits, I decided to try them out. Of course, the most flattering way to wear a one piece is with a high waist, so I opted to combine both trends together, and voile. Easy, effortless, and also proving that you don’t have to be built like a Kardashian to wear the trend…I think you guys will be seeing more of these looks from me. What do you think?

Bombs Away

Waking up one morning, I decided to mix all the current trends into one look: Blush, Velvet, and the Bomber. For most of my adult life, the jackets that I have and wear often are my go to never fail moto style jackets (view previous post.) What can I say, I like what I like. Now with Fall weather quickly washing over the Bay Area and the bomber jacket trend in full force, I felt like getting out of my rut and trying something new. This bomber from Missguided is actually in a UK 6 Petite (US 2 conversion) however…it fits me perfectly. It’s not too baggy, not too heavy, and it’s a great statement piece to throw over workout clothes or spruce up a monochrome look. Plus, it’s blush tone, and you know I can’t get enough blush in my life.

What do you guys think? Are into the current Fall trends or are you staying classic?

Flower Ladder

Most of the time, I’m in some sort of denim. So when I found this perfectly fitting dress from Vici, I was really happy that I could just throw it on and prance out the door. I chose this dress with Mexico in mind. @Twelfthknight and I booked a trip to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta in the Fall and I’m very excited to wear this dress for day excursions! Not to mention the beautiful photos I’ll be sharing with you guys.

Of course, I can’t wait til Mexico to wear it though. This dress is less than $60, cotton blend, and it’s lined! But what really sold me was the length and embroidered flowers. I’m 5’3 and it’s pretty hard to find a dress that is fit correctly in length without having to get it altered. I’m a fan and it looks great with either a sandal or sneaker.

Thanks for reading everyone, I wish you a great weekend!

Summer Slips with Ruti

Summer is in full effect in the Bay Area and all I want is to be comfortable. Lemme tell ya, I do not miss those 100 degree summers (and rising) in Los Angeles…I can definitely leave that behind haha. So what’s the most comfy piece of clothing I own right now? A slip dress from boutique Ruti. Ruti is a ready to wear boutique with 3 stores here in the Bay Area and 2 other locations, one on Abbott Kinney (Venice Beach) as well as Santa Monica. Buyer/owner Ruti hand selects all the store’s brands inspired by her Tel Aviv roots as well as creating in-house label pieces. I can honestly say she has done a beautiful job curating each boutique. If you are ever on Berkeley’s 4th Street or in the Fillmore in SF, pop on in here and take a peek!

Thank you Hamee Ha for shooting this beautiful set. You can find her on Instagram, give her a follow if you’d like. And a huge thank you to Ruti for my favorite closet piece for Summer.
