Pocket Full of Daisies

Don’t let anyone trample on your daisies…not even you

I would write something poetic here, but I think this quote just sums up everything I’ve been thinking lately for I’ve been in quite the creative rut. Maybe this will spark some inspo, for the both of us.

Wander with Me

I’ve been on the go all summer I feel like, from the East Bay to The City, to Peninsula, and then to many wine country weekend trips and an overnighter in Modesto… it’s been a little hectic to say the least. I’m a professional nomad (and a well seasoned one I might add) even when I lived in Los Angeles, so until @Twelfthknight and I secure a place for ourselves I will continue to live and work like this until we find a home.

I got a bit stir crazy a few weeks ago and wanted so badly to trade the traffic and noise for cactus and wide open spaces like Palm Springs. Palm Springs never happened, but I did find this cactus garden in Palo Alto one day, and low and behold I felt like I had just teleported myself somewhere far away.

I look back on the last few weeks and realized this was a good reminder to find peace within your little sanctum. Whether it be carving out time to mediate, deep breathe, intentionally disconnect, or just sit and be still without judgment. Take a walk around the block, sniff flower bushes, or sit in the sun for 10 minutes…I think it’s important to allow yourself that each day. We’re so busy running around, wasting away in traffic, and being plugged in that we forget about what it’s like to be still or one with nature.

Namaste, everyone.E20B3140E20B3156E20B3138E20B3161E20B3147E20B3141E20B3142

Desert Dweller

There’s something magnificent about wandering through the desert. Having just gotten back from Nevada for a wedding, @twelfthknight and I spent the past few days off the beaten path and away from The Strip which I was really happy about. We spent a lot of time outside; roaming through Red Rock Canyon, visiting The Neon Museum, and of course the Seven Magic Mountain installation. I really wanted a not so expected Vegas trip seeing as we’re not that into partying or drinking anymore…and this was the perfect way to spend our time. Wind in your hair and the sun on your face, I like it.

Yesterday morning, I met up with photographer Jazmyn Le at the sleepy town of Goodsprings where The Pioneer Saloon is located. We were able to shoot a quick look here in this old mining town. I love working with new photographers and this set looks like I just walked out of an old Clint Eastwood movie.

I’d like to know, what do you like to do in Vegas? Are you on The Strip or do you veer off of it?

What I wore:

Floral Jacket: Missguided ($76)

Maxi Dress: Rachel Pally

Flower Ladder

Most of the time, I’m in some sort of denim. So when I found this perfectly fitting dress from Vici, I was really happy that I could just throw it on and prance out the door. I chose this dress with Mexico in mind. @Twelfthknight and I booked a trip to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta in the Fall and I’m very excited to wear this dress for day excursions! Not to mention the beautiful photos I’ll be sharing with you guys.

Of course, I can’t wait til Mexico to wear it though. This dress is less than $60, cotton blend, and it’s lined! But what really sold me was the length and embroidered flowers. I’m 5’3 and it’s pretty hard to find a dress that is fit correctly in length without having to get it altered. I’m a fan and it looks great with either a sandal or sneaker.

Thanks for reading everyone, I wish you a great weekend!

Life’s a Beach

They say life’s a beach. Yea, sometimes it is, but they also say life’s a royal bitch too. I’ve been having a particularly rough week, let alone month. February was shockingly slow. I’m talking like, flat line dead..and that’s with awards season. And maybe it’s also because people only reach out when they need something from you, more than likely it’s for free. I don’t want to sound bitter here, but I do think I’m running on empty. I love what I do when I get to do it but stylists rarely get any love. It’s a relatively lonely journey whether you’re repped or not in a terribly unforgiving industry. Why am I telling you this? Because this blog is the best thing I’ve created for myself. The major lull has allowed me to delve 200% into it. And it’s fun to flip the camera since I’ve been working “behind the scenes” for so many years.

This all came about in Manhattan Beach yesterday, where I came to decompress. It’s my favorite beach community down here and if you’ve ever been then you know why. I came back with a full head of clarity and some salty hair.

I hope everyone is having a great week. And if you’re not, I totally get it. It’ll get better, you just gotta hustle some more..bonus if you look good doing it ;)
